Coat of Arms of John Cuthbert 1731?-1782

of Witton Castle, Durham

It is not known if this coat of arms was used as a bookplate.  This example comes from the book 'Armorials of St Nicholas Newcastle' and is presumably displayed on the family memorial in the church.

Arms - Quarterly, 1st and 4th argent, on a fesse gules, three cross crosslets fitches of the field, for Cuthbert.  2nd and 3rd vert, a chevron ermine between three stags trippant or.

Crest - A lion's head erased argent, collared gules, thereon three crosses crosslets fitchee of the first.
