His maternal great grandfather Arthur Heywood (Birth 1717 in Drogheda, Ireland Death 11 Feb 1795) formally established Heywood's Bank in Liverpool in partnership with his brother Benjamin in 1773. Originally located in Hanover Street, the bank moved to 7 Castle Street in 1776. In 1788 the partnership with Benjamin is dissolved. Benjamin goes to Manchester, Arthur continued in Liverpool as Arthur Heywood, Sons & Company.
