Crinan the Thane : An Overview

We know of Crinan from the book "Records of the Heath Family", 1913 by George Heath.  The entry reads as follows:

Crinan the Thane, of Northumberland, was born in the century before the. Conquest, about 966. He seems to have been the same person as Crinan the Thane in Athol, who was hereditary lay Abbot of Dunkeld, and father of Duncan, King of Cumbria, who succeeded as King of Scotland 25th November, 1034.

Crinan had another son Maldred.
