Bookplate of Edward Dalton DCL FSA.
Presumably this is the bookplate for Edward Dalton Esq DCL, FSA of Dunkirk Manor House, Minchinhampton, Co Gloucester, barrister-at-law. He was born 22 May 1787. He married Elizabeth Head, 24 November 1831. She was the only surviving child of Nathaniel Lloyd Esq of Uley, Co Gloucester.

This latin motto translates to "amongst troubles, being triumphant in the cross" or "amid crosses triumphing in the cross".
This bookplate was found inside a first edition of 'The Gentleman Angler' of 1726.
