Miniature Portrait of an unknown Gentleman

Painted by the artist Gervase Spencer (1715?-1763)

A Gentleman, wearing blue coat with gold frogging, embroidered waistcoat with gold buttons, chemise and stock, his powdered wig worn en queue with a black ribbon bow.  Signed on the obverse and dated, GS/ 1753, gold frame.  Oval, 46mm (1 13/16in) high.  Bonhams 8 April 2010, Lot 26.
