Artist and miniature portrait painter who was based in London.

Lot 68. Bonhams Sale 17965 - Fine Portrait Miniatures, 24 Nov 2010 Knightsbridge.  Gervase Spencer (British, circa 1715-1763).  A Lady, wearing blue dress with slashed sleeve over white chemise, pearl choker tied at the back of her neck with blue ribbon bow, her dark hair upswept and dressed with a blue ribbon.  Signed on the obverse with initials and dated GS/ 1754, gold frame with chased border set with split pearls, the reverse with chased border and glazed to reveal strands of hair tied with gold wire and three split seed pearls over opalescent glass, brooch clasp attachment.  Oval, 44mm (1 3/4in) high.  www.bonhams.co.uk
