Inscription reads 'John Harvey, Esq. born 1699, died 1750. El son of
J Harvey, Esq'.
It is signed lower right 'Heins Fec:1744'.
This portrait is recorded in the book 'Portraits in Norfolk Houses'
by Prince Frederick Duleep Singh, Vol 2, undated but published around
1928. Norwich, Holmwood, Thorpe, the property of Col
J R Harvey, later moved to
Windover, Burlesdon, Hants. Page 104.
The portrait was later bought by
Sir Albert Richardson and later sold by Christies in London 18 September 2013,
lot 4.
