Portrait of Lydia Harvey nee Ives, of Norwich

1718-1804

Painted by John Theodore Heins and signed 'Heins. Fec. 1742'.  The inscription on the top reads 'Lydia wife of Thomas Harvey Mayor of Norwich 1748. Daughter of Jeremiah Ives of Norwich. Born 1718. Died 1804.'

A portrait of her husband Thomas also exists painted in a similar style and the same dimensions (50 inches x 40 inches).

Her portrait is also mentioned in the book 'Portraits in Norfolk Houses' by Prince Frederick Duleep Singh, Vol 2, undated but published around 1928.  Norwich, Holmwood, Thorpe, the property of Col J R Harvey, later moved to Windover, Burlesdon, Hants.  Page 105.
