The Pleasures of Memory
By Samuel Rogers
The first edition of this poem was published T. Cadell, London, and printed by J Davis in 1792. Numerous editions followed. The fifth edition published in 1793 appears to have been the first publication to include illustrations. There were four engravings of which two were engraved by James Heath and two were engraved by John Neagle, all dated 29 May 1793. These were from drawings by Thomas Stothard and Richard Westall. The sixth edition published in 1794 again contained the same four engravings. A ninth edition is dated 1796. A new edition 'First Edition'? was published in 1799. Further editions with more engravings were published in 1801, 1802 and 1803 these being labled as a 'New Edition'. In 1824 another version titled 'Rogers Poems' was published by Hurst Robinson with illustrations by Richard Westall, engraved by Charles Heath.
