Ruth was born July 26th 1889 at 5 oclock in the afternoon in Kimberley, Nottingham, and died 16 June 1961 at 2.30pm on a Friday, aged 72.

She was the daughter of Richard Andrew Roe (1849-1913) and Ruth Williamson (1851-1937).

Ruth's brothers and sisters were:

Jane Elizabeth Roe. Born February 1882 and died May 1907 aged 25.
Percy Harrold Roe. Born October 1884 and died January 1892 aged 7.
Sophia Broughton Roe. Born August 1891 and died July 1965 aged 74.

Ruth Roe married Arthur John Jones in August 1907, she was 21 and he was 22.

Ruth and Arthur's children were:

Ruth with daughter Gladys lived in Aspley Lane Nottingham from 1937. I was born in April 1941 and was looked after by grandmother, Nana. I was told that my parents had been killed in the war, but when I was a teenager and preparing to go on holiday with my school to Italy a birth certificate was produce showing that my mother was Gladys to whom I had always referred to as Aunty. My father was simply a line in the box and so I still do not know who he was.

Doris I think died in 1960 as I remember going to the funeral with my grandmother Ruth, Doris was living in Northern Ireland in a village near Belfast.
Nigel her eldest son died about 25 years ago. Neil is living in Lincolnshire.

Gladys went off with someone she had met in Skegness, Leonard Wilson, and they were married in 1968 and lived in Hogsthorpe he predeceased her and I think she died in about 1974. She had inherited the Aspley Lane house when my grandmother died and took or sold all the contents which meant most of my childhood possessions were lost.
