Ann Marsh nee Long 1720-1784

What did Ann look like?

Born in 1720 and died 1784

Daughter of William Long 16??-1723 and Mary Mead 1689?-1770

Sister of Benjamin Long

Ann married George Marsh (1722-1800) either 22 August, 1750, St Stephen & St Benet, Sherhog, London or 19 March 1749 at St Stephens, Walbrook, near the Mansion House.

Ann and George had issue:

  1. George Marsh (1749-1790) Proctor in Doctor's Commons.
  2. William Marsh (1755-1846) who married first Amelia Cuthbert (1765?-1793), second Frances Graham (1770-1805), third Elizabeth Tresilian (1769?-1838).
  3. Anne Marsh (18 February 1760 - 11 August 1777).
  4. Samuel Mead Marsh (16 June 1751 - 10 July 1751).

We know a little bit about Ann's early life from an account book was passed down in the family recording the administration of money from her father.  Indications are that her father was not very good with money and had lost most of their family fortune.

George Marsh also mentions his wife in his diary.

Her mother Mary Long nee Mead is noted on the plan of the Marsh Family Vault in St James, Gillingham.  On her coffin lid the plan records 'Mrs Mary Long died 26 Jan 1770 age 81 years' so presumably she was born around 1689.

Hope to write something here in the future
