Portrait of William Marsh (1755-1846)
Banker of Knightsbridge in the County of Middlesex and York Gate, Regents Park, England
Painted by the artist Francis Lemuel Abbott (1760/61-1802) probably around 1780.
I am not aware of the present whereabouts of this portrait. I understand that it was auctioned by Sothebys on 9 April 1975, Lot 79, and was bought by a Mrs Ward for £220.
If you know where it is I would be very pleased to hear from you. Please contact me.
Lemuel Francis Abbott also painted:
William's wife Amelia but it is not know what this portrait looks like.
William's father George Marsh.
William's father-in-law Arthur Cuthbert.
Lemuel Francis Abbott also painted James Heath who engraved a number of his portraits including the very well known portrait of Horatio Nelson.
