Will of Thomas Stamford (the younger)
(1720-1787)

In the Name of God Amen
I Thomas Stamford of Derby in the County of Derby do make this my last Will and Testament in manner following that is to say First I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Hannah Stamford the sum of three thousand pounds to be paid to her at the End of Expiration of six months next after my decease Also I give and bequeath unto my Sister Rebecca Stamford for and during the term of her natural life the clear Annuity or yearly sum of Forty pounds to be paid to the person appointed to take care of her this sum to be appropriated to her comfortable Maintenance I give and bequeath to my Dear Daughter Elizabeth Caldwell One thousand pounds to be at her own disposal I give devise and bequeath all my real and personal Estates whatsoever and wheresoever unto my Dear Wife Hannah Stamford to be at her entire disposal and I do appoint my said Wife sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former and other Wills by me made All my Debts and Funeral Expenses to be paid out of my Estate In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this second day of July one thousand seven hundred and eighty four

Signed Sealed published and declared by the said Testator Thomas Stamford as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in his presence and the presence of each other have subscribed our names as Witnesses hereto Thos. Oldknow - John Hancock - Benjamin Oldknow

This Will was proved at London the fourteenth day of September in the year of Our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty seven before the Right Worshipful Peter Calvert Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oath of Hannah Stamford Widow the Relict of the deceased and Sole Executrix named in the said Will to whom Administration was granted of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said deceased having been first sworn by Commission duly to Administer

On the twenty seventh day of September one thousand seven hundred and eighty eight Administration (with the Will annexed) of the Goods Chattels and Credits of Thomas Stamford late of Derby in the County of Derby Esquire deceased left unadministered by Hannah Stamford Widow the Relict of the said deceased Sole Executrix and Residuary Legatee named in the said Will now also deceased was granted to Hannah Stamford Spinster the Daughter and Administratrix (with the Will and Codicil annexed) of the Goods of the said Hannah Stamford deceased having been first sworn by Commission duly to Administer.
